THE POWER OF PRIORITISING GODS WORD

Leading Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

WHY THE WORD OF GOD?

  1. It is Divine – It is Godly
  2. It is Inspired
    • Which is to say it is influential, and that is the influence of the Lord. The men who wrote the scripture where under the tutorage of the Lord.
  1. It is Authentic
    • It is Genuine, it is Original.
    • That is; it supercedes all other information & literature.
  1. It is Infallible
    • It doesn’t fall short, it is without error! It is flawless!!
    • The Word of God is both INERRANT and INFALLIBLE.
    • INFALLIBLE – because it CAN’T or CAN NEVER have an error (closing the future assessions saying maybe at some time it might have some error).
    • INERRANT – because it doesn’t have any error at all.
    • Talking about Bible inerrancy the Word in its original form (manuscript) has no error! What we use are translations and may have errors due to some man errors. But the WORD in its original form is INERRANT
  1. It is Relevant
    • **Which is to say it is applicable in all ages. **
    • Relevant because God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Also because the LORD is ALPHA & OMEGA.
    • In the relevance of the WORD, God is different from man. The Word of the Lord has never lost the taste of time. We pray for the future, yet the Lord is already there in Eternity. That is why the Word of God is relevant at each and every given time.
    • In quoting the Word look at the relevance of the context in your “now.”

WHY SHOULD WE (I) PRIORITISE THE WORD OF GOD?

  1. It is a means of LIFE.
    • SEED for Our salvation.
      • It is the WORD that gives birth to our salvation.
      • FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD. When the Word comes, it then convicts someone, and that is when he/she becomes born again.
    • A tool for our sustainability
      • Rom 8:1 there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.
  2. It is a means of Growth.
    • lt is a tool of transformation
      • Transformation is Vertical.
      • 2 Cor 5:17, declares an element from the Word which is Vertical, something that only God Himself does…
      • The word comes as a GIFT and then works out our lives in a way that we can’t on ourselves.. Its then in theology called THEOLOGY from Above.
      • THEOLOGY FROM ABOVE – defines those things that only God Himself does for us..
      • Rom 3:23 – all have fallen short yet by His Grace we’re saved. Thus, referring to things that we can’t do for ourselves.
      • No matter what we can do can sat
    • Capacity Building
      • Capacity Building, is an element which is horizontal.
      • Verse 16 says; its useful for teaching, rebuking, etc. Thus available to us for use in our fields (career, etc) for our righteousness. For us not to remain on a subsistence level (thinking only about ourselves, and not Kingdom business) so that we can be dignified.
      • Making you a model, an ambassador of the Kingdom. Making the Word become applicable even in your area of influence.. i.e remaining dignified no matter what!
  3. It is a means of Productivity
    • An element of Service.. Making you always aware that you are a co-worker with the Lord in Kingdom.
    • Not everyone is called to be a pastor, but you are called to be a man of God in that particular profession in which the Lord has called you into. If you work for cooperate governance don’t think the Word is never applicable there.
    • In fact, there is no principle in the cooperate world (management, avionics, e.t.c) that is so solid enough without making a reference from the Word of God!
    • The Word is there to make us Fruitful. Don’t think you can obtain favour by following a man of God. But when you submit to the Word and apply it the favour is already there for you an you’ll be FRUITFUL.

In Conclusion

  • We are Gods workmanship created to do good works.
  • Psalm 32:8 – The LORD says, “I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you.
  • In fact, the honour we see honourable men receive in the world today is a replication of what is already in the Word of God to every child of God.
  • Let God lead you where you ought to GO!
  • The word “teach” from the verse also means disciple(discipline), the Lord is willing to coach, tutor, lead… you.
  • When you are under the teaching of the Lord, you need not to be intimidated by the change of circumstances; knowing He lives!
  • Eccl 10:10 – If your ax is dull and you don’t sharpen it, you have to work harder to use it. It is smarter to plan ahead.
  • The planning ahead from the verse above brings us to back to Psalm 32:8, where you’re telling the Lord to lead you where you should go, to coach you on what you should do!
